Yamaha AORC, Rounds 10 & 11 Omeo, VIC – What You Need to Know
The 2018 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) is set for a frenetic final weekends racing with Rounds 10 & 11 at Omeo, Vic and the riders are ready and raring for one last battle. Daniel Milner (E3), Daniel Sanders (E2), Luke Styke (E1) and Michael Driscoll (EJ) head into the weekend leading their classes respectively and will be hoping to wrap up the championship. This weekend will see the field facing a cross country on Saturday and the season will end with Sprints on Sunday.
Hosts Koo Wee Rup Motorcycle club have put in a great amount of effort here and the reward is clear for everyone to see, an Off Canva, Flat Grass Track and Rocky, Bushy and Technical Track will meet the riders. On Saturday the riders will look at 20 minute lap times throughout the three-hour cross country, whist on Sunday the track will be split into two tests, with each test taking about eight minutes to complete.
This weekend’s racing is set to be one to remember with all ten championships to be decided either on Saturday or Sunday.
Omeo, Victoria
Omeo is a town 402km away from Melbourne and was founded back in 1834 by the naturalist John Lhotsky. Omeo is affectionately known as the City of the Alps with many historic buildings remaining in the town. The famous Australian film ‘Red Hill’ was filmed in and around Omeo in 2010. Omeo hosts a range of events including the Mountain Calf Sales and Hinnomunjie Picnic Races, an Easter Saturday Rodeo with a town market held at the court house gardens and the Caravan & RV Muster and an Agricultural Show
